Olly Murs Apologizes for Slamming Taylor Swift's Harry Styles Lyrics

Looks like Olly Murs is rethinking his joke about Taylor Swift finding some new material besides Harry Styles for her songs. Last week, Olly commented in an interview, "Come on [Taylor], let it go. Write something new that isn't about Harry."

Taylor called the jabs about her songwriting inspiration "sexist," pointing to Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars as examples of songwriters who also write about their personal lives but don't get dissed for it.

On Australia's 2DayFM, Taylor explained she's always written about her life but gets more attention about it now that she's become more successful. But, she explained, "I have a really strict personal policy that I never name names, so anybody saying that a song is about a specific person is purely speculating."

She added, "You're going to have people who are gonna say, 'Oh you know, like she just writes songs about her ex-boyfriends,' and I think, frankly, that's just a very sexist angle to take."

Olly decided to reach out and personally apologize to Taylor for the Harry comment he made, as News.com.au reports, he said: "They were having a banter with me, they said what they said about Harry and (Taylor's) song and all I said was 'Give him a break.' I have reached out to her, she knows I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by it and it was all in jest."

Olly told Daily Mail Australia: "I reached out to Taylor around two days ago. I gave her a letter and said, 'I'm really sorry...It came out wrong. I'm sorry I didn't mean to make any offense."

He added, "It always came out that every article says Taylor writes songs and they always link it to Harry so I was just making a joke and defending my mate. But there's one thing – I'm not and I've never been sexist, I don't think that's right. It wasn't nice what I said but it was a joke. I didn't expect it to blow up like it did."
