Unhappy Halloween: Walmart's Website Featured "Fat Girl Costumes"

Um, excuse us?!

If you happened to be searching for a plus-size adult Halloween costume on Walmart's website this morning, you were in for a very unpleasant surprise.

The popular retailer's section was labeled "Fat Girl Costumes," which is so beyond offensive, we don't even know where to start.

We kind of take issue with the whole "plus size" thing to begin with, because have you SEEN what some of these "plus-size" models look like? We prefer to call it "normal" or perhaps a more accurate description would be "healthy-looking."

But, Walmart's website was calling it "fat girl" and along with the rest of the Twitterverse, we were super mad when we saw it. It wasn't long before "Fat Girl Costumes" started trending on Twitter and let's just say people were not impressed. If there is any silver lining in this whole labeling debacle, it's that Walmart has apologized and removed the section from their website.

In response to the influx of angry messages they got on Twitter, the company has been responding with things like, "This never should have been on our site. It is unacceptable, and we apologize," and "We are working to remove it as soon as possible and ensure this never happens again."

How about not letting it happen in the first place? And having a serious talk with that web developer.
