Just because we're beauty writers doesn't mean we know everything about taking care of our skin. In fact we got schooled just the other day on a part of our beauty routine that we thought we'd perfected: Eye cream.

We were using too much. Chances are, you are too.

According to the beauty experts at Murad, whose new flagship store just opened in Los Angeles, here's how to measure the right amount of eye cream: All you need is the equivalent of one long grain of rice. Sure, some eye creams are richer than others, but in general, if you're going with a mid- to high-end brand, you've probably got a pretty concentrated eye cream, and you shouldn't be applying any more than that.

We were surprised, but also relieved. Good eye creams ain't cheap, and we're glad we can make that little bottle last even longer.
