Every fall, beauty fiends like us love to change things up. Maybe we darken our hair, splurge on a rich, deep new eye shade...or just indulge in that nutmeg-scented candle that would be out of place in the sunny months.
But did you know that, in the perfume world, there are even fall and winter perfumes? We had no idea.
The idea is pretty much the same as that of Starbuck's pumpkin spice latte "season." The temperature has dropped. And our perfume should reflect that too. Do we agree? Not necessarily. But if you're in the market for a new perfume, and love to change scents the way you change lipstick, listen up.
This season, the big fall perfume trend is - wait for it - whiskey. Scents made with or inspired by that famous contribution of the Scots. Luxury perfumer Seth Kornegay has launched Petra, a stunning unisex scent made from Islay single malt whiskey from those very people. Sensual amber notes meld with alpine freshness and blended wood notes, wild herbs and even bark.
And Barney's, that bastion of luxury, recently debuted the unisex scent Cuir X by La Parfumerie Moderne: Amber, saffron, leather and iris, mellowed by vanilla.
It's different. It's bold. And it's very, very winter. Do you dare?
