Naya Rivera Says Showering Every Day Is a "White People Thing"

After dissing Kim Kardashian's butt-baring Paper cover, Naya Rivera is stirring up controversy in a whole new way.

This time, the Glee star made waves following her appearance on The View Tuesday, when the co-hosts discussed personal hygiene and Naya chimed in with her perspective on showering.

"I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnics," she said. "I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing."

"My mom is half-black, half-Puerto Rican," the 28-year-old actress continued. "She showers every day, so I can say this. But, I can say I am now married to a white man [Ryan Dorsey], and he showers a lot, I mean like two, three times and I'm like, 'What are you doing?'"

Not long after Naya made her comments, the Internet went wild, with people accusing the "Sorry" crooner of being racist, ignorant and simply unhygienic.

Rather than fire back though, Naya took it all in stride, sending out a lighthearted tweet before heading back to the View Wednesday to clarify her comments.

"Yesterday we were talking about a study that says you're supposed to shower once or twice every three days," she said on the show. "I had an opinion on it that was supposed to be a joke. Apparently it didn't go over so well."

"It was supposed to be a joke, but I apologize if anyone was offended," Rivera continued, before adding with a smile, "However, I'm very excited that it sparked a big conversation about how many times you should shower."
