First of all, let's get one thing straight. The speculation about Katy Perry paying to score herself the Super Bowl halftime gig has nothing to do with Katy trying to buy her way into it. We all know the pop star is the last person that would need to beg anybody to let her play.

The reason the whole thing is even a thing is because there was talk that ANY performer who would be doing the halftime show might be doing a pay-to-play situation. Back in August, a Wall Street Journal report claimed that the three finalists for the show (Katy Perry, Rihanna and Coldplay) were asked to pay for the privilege of playing at halftime.

When Katy got the gig, it was just assumed that she'd paid and she wants to set the record very straight on that.

"I put my foot down very early in the courtship," Katy told The Associated Press, dismissing the allegations that she'd paid to play. "I said, 'Look guys, here's where I draw a line in the sand.' I want to be invited on my own merits and not with some fine print. I stuck to my position...I don't even care if my contract leaks...I have nothing to hide, basically."

Some things the pop star IS hiding are her special guests (we do know Lenny Kravitz will make an appearance), her costumes and her playlist. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!
