After news surfaced that Niall Horan is possibly dating Australian Melissa Anne Whitelaw, the One Direction singer's fans went nuts. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, several Directioners threatened to "kill her" if she hurts him in any way.
Others simply warned her to stay away or loaded her Instagram account comments with insults. This all started after Melissa was reportedly spotted kissing Niall in a Sydney casino.
"OMG Niall Horan and Melissa. They were seen in a casino, they kissed," one fan supposedly tweeted. "And he held her by the waist and playing with her hair." After seeing all of the hateful comments she received, Mellssa responded, "I haven't done anything to any of you so please stop sending me mean comments," according to Ocean Up.
"For all you asking yeah Niall and I are dating," she continued. "Niall has not posted about it because we have decided we will wait until it's the right time."
Not all Directioners slammed Melissa though. Some wrote positive comments on social media, with @cescarosone writing, "Mellisa has done nothing to our fandom. We are the reason our fandom is falling apart bcuz we're hating on happiness." Meanwhile, @tara_mcevaddy wrote, "I hope that if u are really dating niall that u are going to be very happy. I support it 100% the niall fans are just worried as u are his first known about public girlfriend and don't want him Hurt. We love u and support u guys #hatersgonnahatepotatersgonnapotate."
Aside from Niall, Melissa has also been linked to The 1975 frontman Matt Healy, whom she was spotted posing with in coupled-up photos on Twitter, according to Sugarscape.
