Mae Whitman Is No 'DUFF,' Plus She Gives Kick-Ass Advice

For those of you who have been hibernating in libraries for school and haven't heard of the latest teen comedy, The DUFF, let us catch you up - it stands for Designated Ugly Fat Friend.

Yes, you read that right. When Bianca (Mae Whitman) finds out she's been labeled the DUFF out of her friends, she seeks help from the school jock (who also needs her help to pass chemistry, natch) in hopes of shedding that humiliating label.

Cambio got some one-on-one time with the hilarious cast - including Mae, Robbie Amell, Bella Thorne, Skyler Samuels and Bianca Santos. We found out that we share the same favorite scene with Robbie (which was also Mae's most embarrassing scene to film), and the girls Bella, Skyler and Bianca gave us some great superlatives.

Our favorite takeaway might be Mae's impressive advice. "I really wanted people to know that you're not alone because I think it's a really isolating feeling. Also to really look at how no matter what box anybody tries to put you in, regardless of any of it - it's not real and you don't have to subscribe to it and you don't have to let it affect you."

Don't forget to check out The DUFF, now in theaters. You won't regret it!
