Parents can be totally embarrassing, even if they happen to be pop stars. Just ask Lourdes Leon, who's a freshman at the University of Michigan. Her Material mom, Madonna, revealed that her 18-year-old daughter is fine with her coming to visit campus but asked her not to attend any college football games at her alma mater.

"I'm not allowed at games," the 56-year-old singer admitted on The Today Show while promoting her new album Rebel Heart. "You think my daughter wants me at a game?" Madge also shares what advice she gave to Lourdes about starting college: "Try to do everything in moderation. Try not to kill all your brain cells. And try to go to class."

Despite her celebrity status, Madonna says she's like every typical mom sending their kid off to school for the first time in many ways. "I'm very mom," she says. "I'm very, you know, worried. Are you OK? Are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating enough?"

At least Lola thinks some things about her famous mom are cool, like her songs with Diplo from the new album. "[Lourdes] kept sending me text messages saying, 'Mom, can you please text me the Diplo track?' I'm like, 'The record's not out yet. No, I can't send it to you.'"

What do you think of Madonna's words of wisdom for her daughter?
