Lorde couldn't help but reach out to Joe Irvine in a sweet way after he was bullied on X Factor New Zealand.
The "Royals" singer was among celebrities who sent him a ton of positivity after now-fired X Factor judges Natalia Kills and Willy Moon went a little too far with their comments about his performance of "Cry Me a River" on the show March 15.
After he performed the song, Brtish pop star Natalia went off, saying she thought Joe's performance was "disgusting," among other things, according to US Weekly. "As an artist who respects creative integrity and intellectual property, I am disgusted by how much you've copied my husband," she said.
"From the hair to the suit, do you not have any value or respect for originality?," she continued. "You're a laughing stock. It's cheesy. It's disgusting. I personally found it absolutely artistically atrocious. I am embarrassed to be sitting here in your presence having to even dignify you with an answer of my opinion."
In the midst of all of that, Joe kept his cool saying, "Thank you, Natalia, you're beautiful." Then, her husband (and co-judge) Willy chimed in, adding, "To me, it just feels a little bit cheap and absurd. It's like Norman Bates dressing up in his mother's clothing. It's just a little bit creepy, and I feel like you're going to stitch someone's skin to your face and then kill everybody. But...do you."
"I'm a performer too, & I wanted to say that no matter how many people make fun of me for how I dress, move, and act, I'm being me - and that's what's important," she continued. "Good luck and lots of love, Lorde."
Joe posted both on Twitter, tweeting, "lorde sent me cupcakes I thank u so much I love them."
