On Monday, the network announced that scenes referencing the actor have been cut from the final airing piece. They released a statement saying:
"Roasts often push the limits of good taste and we give the participants full rein to try things knowing we have the edit to shape the show. Sometimes the line is discovered by crossing it. The Paul Walker references will not be in the telecast."
That's probably a good thing. Everyone gets that the event was supposed to be funny and sometimes mean, but no one likes it when people pick on someone who just recently died in a tragic accident like Paul did. Even Bieber admitted he wasn't too fond of the jokes about him at a press conference after the show.
When asked what he thought was the meanest jab of the night, Justin said that the Paul jokes were. "There was a lot of offensive jokes tonight. I didn't particularly like the Paul Walker jokes," he responded.
So what mean jokes about Paul were said? Well, when Jeff Ross was at the podium, he brought up the connections between Bieber's driving skills to those of Paul. "Move B*tch. the comedian said, "'Move b*tch, get out of the way!' is what Paul Walker should've told that tree. Too soon? Too fast? Too furious?"
Justin wasn't the only one not too fond of that joke. Paul's friend and movie costar Ludacris was reportedly not happy about the jab, either. He was one of the celebs there to actually roast the Biebs, and Jeff actually used his songs lyrics to diss Luda's dead friend. The rapper reportedly could be seen motioning to cut after Jeff's joke.
That wasn't the only Paul joke of the night, either. Among the other lines referencing the late actor, Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson said, "Just this past year, Justin got arrested for drag racing. Unfortunately, it wasn't with Paul Walker." After some audience boos, he said, "What? He's doing great! He's got a movie coming out!"
Natasha chimed in, trying to diss Martha Stewart, saying, "I'm not saying Martha Stewart is old, but she needs a new Walker more than the Fast and Furious franchise."
Ugh, we don't even get why Paul was even brought up during this whole thing. What do you think of the decision to cut the jokes?
