Shailene Woodley Drinks Bone Broth for Breakfast, Shares Recipe

Shailene Woodley is really into the whole Paleo Diet movement, particularly when it comes to sipping bone broth.

"Bone broth. I am telling you, it is the s**t. It is everything," the Insurgent star told MTV News recently when asked about her latest health kick. "She's been on the bone broth for awhile, baby," her Insurgent costar Jai Courtney added.

The actress loves it so much that she continued to elaborate about her cravings for the beverage during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman the following week. "I've been into bone broth for a long time and it's really cool because now there is this whole Paleo movement and it's getting a lot of attention," she told David Letterman.

"The Paleo diet is exposing some of the benefits of animal protein," she continued. "What I think is beautiful about it is that you're using the whole animal. You're not just seeking out that perfect cut of muscle meat."

Shailene said the broth is brewed from 24 to 36 hours, and you can boil the bones and other parts of the animal to make it. "I have a little bit in the morning," she added. "It's known to be helpful with leaky gut or irritable bowel syndrome."

Just in case any fans wanted to try it, the actress wrote out her morning bone broth recipe for the host, which was later tweeted on the show's Twitter handle.

To whip up some bone broth simply combine: 1 cup grass feed beef broth, 1 tbsp. coconut oil, pinch of salt, 1 cup ginger tea, pinch of turmeric, 1 tbsp. colostrum. Then, "Blend all in a blender and swoon!"
