This 104-Year-Old Woman Credits Dr. Pepper for Long, Healthy Life
This Texan woman seems to think so. While celebrating her 104th birthday Wednesday, Elizabeth Sullivan said drinking three of the sodas every day has helped her live a long and healthy life.
"I started drinking 'em about 40 years ago, three a day," she told CBS Dallas-Fort Worth. "Every doctor that sees me says it'll kill you, but they die and I don't. So there must be a mistake somewhere."
Elizabeth even drinks Dr. Pepper to start her day, adding, "People try to give me coffee for breakfast. Well, I'd rather have a Dr Pepper." When the soft-drink company caught wind of Elizabeth's claims, reps surprised her with a few special gifts: a crate full of Dr. Pepper bottles, a birthday cake shaped like a Dr. Pepper can and a Dr. Pepper gift basket from the CEO of Dr. Pepper Snapple Group Larry Young.
"When you live to 104 and still can talk to nice people you deserve some Dr. Pepper, but I never expected this," she said when the gifts were wheeled in. "I'm feeling good. I'm glad I'm still here."
As for her other secrets to living past 100, Elizabeth told the outlet, "you just keep living."
