When she quit Twitter, she explained that it was that the amount of hate and negativity that people were spewing at her (which sadly happens to most celebs) was getting to be too much. As for Instagram, she didn't explain that one in detail, but on the day she quit, she posted a pic in front of her house lamenting that the paparazzi had invaded her privacy.
After two months of staying off of social media, Iggy returned and she had a big announcement for her fans:

We're not sure where or when she will be performing with Britney, but we're pretty pumped about that...and we're equally excited about the Twitter chat with her fans. At least the haters didn't totally ruin it for everyone, because let's face it, even a little bit of Iggy is better than no Iggy at all!
