Who knew?

As it turns out, Blake Lively wasn't so comfortable playing Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl. "People loved it, but it always felt a little personally compromising - you want to be putting a better message out there," she told Allure.

"It's a weird thing when people feel like they know you really well, and they don't," she explained. "I would not be proud to be the person who gave someone the cocaine that made them overdose and then shot someone and slept with someone else's boyfriend (some of which Serena actually did on the show).

That might explain why Blake took some time away from the industry after the show ended. When she resurfaced last year, the Age of Adaline star launched her lifestyle website Preserve, got back to acting and soon announced she was pregnant.
Celebrity Sightings In New York City - October 15, 2012"It taps into so many of my own passions, but it also is a business that I can control," she told the mag about her lifestyle site. "If I can be successful at this, I have security for my family and my babies. I'm in a profession, acting, where it's really for-hire - I offer a service that people hire out. I love it, but it's not something I can control."

Meanwhile, Blake's acting career is still on a roll. Her drama flick Age of Adaline hits theaters April 24 and she also recently landed a starring role in All I See Is You, in which she'll play a blind woman who regains her sight.
