The "Stay With Me" singer announced the news Tuesday, telling fans the injury forced him to put his Australian tour on hold. "I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour," Sam wrote on Instagram.
"I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small hemorrhage on my vocal cords," he continued. "The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal chords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge long-term issue. I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am. We will be announcing re-arranged dates very shortly. This kills me."
In another post Tuesday, Sam asked fans to "keep an eye" on his Facebook/Twitter/Instagram for "re-arranged December dates." As a result of the hemorrhage, Sam had to cancel dates for his sold-out shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide.
Sam is just the latest music star to suffer a setback because of a vocal hemorrhage. Ariana Grande, John Mayer and Adele all also had to cancel tours in the past because of it too. Thankfully, all of them bounced back after taking some time to rest their vocal cords (John even had surgery for it). We're wishing Sam the best as he recovers - can't wait to see him come back better than ever as well.
