6 Hours of Retouching in 90 Seconds: See What Really Goes Into a High-End Campaign

We all know that when we see pictures in magazines, they're retouched. Even online images - if they're from a photoshoot - have often been worked on.

But, when we think 'retouching' we think a little smoothing here, a little shadowing there, maybe enhancing some lip color. Turns out, there is A LOT more that goes into it. Like hours and hours of Photoshopping for one picture.

Elizabeth Moss is a professional retoucher and she's really, really good at what she does. She's worked with mags like Vogue, Elle, W Magazine, GQ and Vanity Fair. Now, Elizabeth is lifting the curtain to show us what really goes on behind-the-scenes during a high-end Photoshop job, thanks to a series of videos she's uploaded on her YouTube page.

In this particular video, we get to see six hours of Photoshopping that she did on one picture - yes, six hours for ONE photo. And the photo is just of the model's face!

"These videos are unique because none of the high end retouchers make these type of videos, so the quality of the other before and after retouching videos available online are pretty terrible and not at all representative of what is typically done on high fashion editorials and campaigns," she told PetaPixel.

This was definitely enlightening, we will say that. In fact, the next time we see a picture of ourselves that isn't exactly our favorite shot, we're going to remember this video!
