The eggplant emoji looks innocent enough and if you're utilizing the new emoji hashtag feature on Instagram, you might be inclined to throw it out there with a recipe, a cooking pic, a photo of your garden or something along those lines.

Unfortunately, because the eggplant has taken on a whole new meaning on social media (remember #EggplantFriday?), the photo-sharing site has removed the misused vegetable from its emoji search function. They removed the hashtags "Eggplant" and "EggplantFriday" awhile ago, but pretty much as soon as the emoji hashtag became available, they realized they had to pull the purple veggie from there, too.

If you're not familiar with the eggplant hashtag situation and you're wondering what they've got against the vegetable, we want to save you from doing an #Eggplant search (the results are totally NSFW). Here's the long and short of it: The hashtag was utilized when guys were posting pictures of their bulges under their pants, while some guys opted to skip the whole pants part and just put it all out there, which goes against Instagram's nudity policy.

Of course, people have tried to find workarounds with misspellings, adding words like "freethe" in front of the word eggplant and some have even tagged their NSFW eggplant photos with #EggplantParmesan...so if you're looking for an eggplant parm recipe, or pics of people's food, maybe you should try Pinterest instead.
