Britney Spears Explains Her Ankle Injury and Makes a Big Announcement

Britney Spears just doesn't stop with the surprises!

In the last year or so, the pop star added more dates to her "Piece of Me" show in Las Vegas, did a duet with Iggy Azalea AND announced that they would be performing the song together at the Billboard Music Awards on May 15.

Of course, we all wondered if the performance was still on after Britney hurt her ankle during a recent show. Just watching the video was painful, so we can't imagine how much pain BritBrit was actually in. Not wanting to disappoint the audience, she somehow managed to stand up and tried to continue dancing, but you could tell she was hurting pretty badly.

Upon the advice of her doctor, she had to cancel the two weekend shows that followed the injury. In this new clip from her surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing today, Britney explains what really happened.

"Well, I actually wasn't doing anything that hard," she explained. "I was just kind of boppin' around. And I've done like eight years worth of shows. And I've never actually fell onstage, so it was really kind of embarrassing. But yeah, I fell down and I got up, and my dancers kind of guided me to keep going...I tore some ligaments, yeah." Ouch!

As a result, she won't be able to perform for a little while. Don't worry, though, she has some good news that will soften the blow for fans. She's extending her Las Vegas residency for another three months! She also gave the entire audience tickets to the show, making us super bummed that we weren't sitting in one of those seats!

We wish Britney a speedy recovery and can't wait to see her back on that stage doin' her thing!
