Whether you loved it or hated it, there's no denying Rihanna's extravagant (and huge) yellow Met Gala gown made a statement...and it took a long time to create the look.

"It's a miracle how it happened actually," Rihanna told Vogue's Andre Leon Talley, when he asked her how she chose the gown for the event. "I saw this beautiful piece on the Internet. I was looking through, you know, researching Chinese couture and it's made by Guo Pei. She's a Chinese couturier. It's hand made by one Chinese woman. It took two years to make this." Wow.

After rocking the red carpet, Rihanna headed in to the event, stripped off the robe and performed her hit "B*tch Better Have My Money." She later headed to her Met Gala after party in a sheer Maison Margiela blouse that left her with a nip slip before the night was done.

Following her eventful evening, Rihanna took some time to poke fun of herself since there were so many memes floating around about her yellow robe/gown Tuesday morning. In one meme she posted on Instagram, Rihanna stands in an eggshell with an egg yolk attached to her gown. "carrying," she captioned the shot.

Next, she posted a video of an adorable dog wrapped in a bright yellow blanket, hanging out and listening to "B*tch Better Have My Money." Got to love a girl who doesn't take herself too seriously.
