McDonald's has reimagined one of their vintage characters and it's getting plenty of attention – it also has the Internet completely divided. Check out the Hamburglar, who, while not as creepy as the Burger King (shiver), there's definitely something strange about him. On the flip side, some people are finding him pretty sexy.
We're not seeing it, honestly, but the new Hamburglar is definitely a lot better to look at than the old school version of the character, who first landed on the scene in 1975 (you may recall his signature "robble robble" as he stole hamburgers). Then the Hamburgler vanished in the early 2000s...until now.
Joel Yashinsky, McDonald's' VP of U.S. Marketing, told Mashable: "We felt it was time to debut a new look for the Hamburglar after he's been out of the public eye all these years. He's had some time to grow up a bit and has been busy raising a family in the suburbs and his look has evolved over time."
So...he's a dad now? But yet he didn't give up his life of crime? So. Many Questions. We're guessing his sex appeal comes from his edgy bad boy vibe, but we're not sure the mask really sells it. Still, he's an upgrade over past versions.
The Legend. The Lore. The good looks? Hamburglar is back, America, and he's after our Sirloin Third Pound Burgers! https://t.co/M2Zi2OXo4u- McDonald's (@McDonalds) May 7, 2015
