Whether you're a regular at the tanning salon or you just occasionally skip the sunscreen, this post is for you. It's for all of us.
Tawny Willoughby is a 27-year-old mom who was first diagnosed with skin cancer when she was 21 years old. She shared the following photo on her Facebook page to warn people about what skin cancer can look like.
"If anyone needs a little motivation to not lay in the tanning bed and sun here ya go! This is what skin cancer treatment can look like. Wear sunscreen and get a spray tan," she captioned the photo. "You only get one skin and you should take care of it. Learn from other people's mistakes. Don't let tanning prevent you from seeing your children grow up. That's my biggest fear now that I have a two year old little boy of my own."
The photo has been shared over 51,000 times and actually got reported as offensive. "Well, it only took 10,716 shares for my photo to be reported," she wrote, along with a photo of the FB report status. "If I knew who reported it I would give them a major side eye, and the finger lol."
The photo IS graphic, we won't deny that, but it also served as a powerful reminder for why we always 'hassle' with putting on our sunscreen. And if you absolutely must have that bronzed look, go ahead and get your spray tan on!
