Turns out, she had an explanation for the whole rant, which was captured on video and went viral. In the video, taken at a Queens, NY Starbucks, an employee goes on a full tirade at customer Ruby Chen. What did Ruby do to deserve this?
In a now deactivated Facebook account, Ruby explained that she ordered a frappuccino with a cookie straw, and there was some miscommunication. The employee got pretty worked up, even blasting other customers who tried to talk to her.
A spokesperson for Starbucks released this statement, saying that manager no longer works for the store: "The customer's experience is not reflective of the service our baristas provide. The employee was immediately suspended and no longer works for Starbucks. Our leadership team has reached out to the customer to make things right. This experience is not what we want our customers to have in our stores."
The customer was given a $100 gift card.
As for the Starbucks employee...Melissa told Pix 11 that the video of her outburst "tells one side of the story," as she claims the customer called her names and got other customers to join in. She said she quit and was not fired.
