Leading up to Taylor Swift
's Bad Blood" video, Swifties had a ton of questions about what to expect, and a few of their burning inquiries were answered by the clues Tay dropped up until she finally stopped teasing and released the full video
(which obviously lived up to all the hype because... duh). But just in case anyone still needs answers, Gigi Hadid
has some exclusive info on why she and T. Swift decided to her name her "Bad Blood" character Slay-Z
, which sort of sounds like a fierce female take on Beyoncé
's better half, rapper Jay Z
is a word that everyone is using right now in social media," Gigi explained. "I think it's a hilarious word. And I'm kind of obsessed with Beyoncé, and we wanted to do a play on Jay Z, so it actually came from Jay Z, and we made it Slay-Z. That's how we got Slay-Z."
First off, how cool is that Gigi was feeling her character so much that she named her after Beyoncé? Seriously, naming her "Bad Blood" persona after Bey might make her an honorary relative, or at least an official member of the Beyhive. After all, she and Queen Bey have a few things in common: They're both fashionable and absolutely werk
it as models. Gigi and Bey both serve as the faces of major cosmetics lines. Oh, and here's a rather strange connection: While Beyoncé made the term "surfboard" famous, Gigi starred in her then-boyfriend's video for the song "Surfboard." Now do you see why we think they're practically related?
In the meantime, who else wonders what Beyoncé thinks about the name Slay-Z? We totally approve, but something tells us she does too.
