As the Vampire Diaries star left a building Thursday in Paris with his wife Nikki Reed, a group of fans were waiting outside, hoping for the perfect photo opp with Ian. Unfortunately, he wasn't in the mood.
In a video posted to YouTube, Ian can be seen telling the fans he loves them, but wanted privacy. "I love you guys. I'm not taking a single photo today. It's my day," he told the group. "Don't follow us, please. I love you guys. Do not follow us. Okay? It's too much. It's too much."
In the midst of that speech, a young woman asked him for "just one" photo, and he refused, saying,"it's not just one." She then started crying. Needless to say, when fans caught wind of the video, many of them were not happy about it.

the 30 seconds ian somerhalder spent giving that lecture about privacy he could have used to take the pics with fans— asiya (@badassbieb) May 28, 2015
Still, hopefully they can find it in their hearts to cut him a little bit of slack on this one. While he didn't handle the situation in the best way, we haven't seen anything else surface in the past of Ian being rude to fans. He probably just really wanted some privacy with his ladylove in that moment.
why ian somerhalder gotta be so extra there were like 5 people there he could've just taken pics instead of preaching for 10 minutes— mila (@piscescabello) May 28, 2015
It was after all, his day.
