"'Oh, she's doing a stupid reality show. She's doing it for the money. She's doing this, she's doing that.'" she said, anticipating possible critical reactions. "I'm not doing it for money. I'm doing it to help my soul and help other people."
And at the same time, she's also a smart businesswoman. "If I can make a dollar, I certainly am not stupid. [I have] house payments and all that kind of stuff," she explained. "I will never make an excuse for something like that. Yeah, this is a business. You don't go out and change your gender for a television show. O.K., it ain't happening. I don't care who you are."
While they are obviously all very supportive of her journey, Caitlyn's children (from her first two marriages) refuse to appear on her docuseries. According to the article, the children are "forgoing financial gain in favor of preserving their father's legacy." Caitlyn said that she was terribly disappointed and terribly hurt by this at first, but has come to accept their decision.
The currently untitled eight-part docuseries premieres July 26 at 9pm on E!.
