If you've ever thought twice about heading to the polls during an election, you might want to take a look at this.

In upcoming drama flick Suffragette, Academy Award nominees Carey Mulligan and Helena Bonham Carter star alongside Academy Award winner Meryl Streep as three women who are willing to lose everything in their fight for equality in early 20th century Britain, particularly when it comes to the right to vote.

Carey plays Maud, a working wife and mother who becomes an activist after she is secretly recruited to join the U.K.'s growing suffragette movement, led by Emmeline Pankhurst (Meryl Streep). When things take a turn and Maud and other suffragettes are forced underground, their next steps spark a debate across the nation.
Suffragette is inspired by true events and also stars Ben Whishaw, Anne-Marie Duff, Brendan Gleeson, Romola Garai, and Natalie Press. It is set to hit theaters this fall on Oct. 23 in New York and Los Angeles, and in additional cities Oct. 30 and Nov. 6.
