I Won't Be Tuning in to 'I Am Cait'
The new teaser trailer for her reality series "I Am Cait" shows her putting on her makeup and discussing what it's like now having all the pressures that females face today. Something at the end of the trailer struck me though, when Cait says "I am the new normal." I don't agree with that.
Yes, the LGBTQ community should be accepted, and we are all human beings who deserve equal rights, but saying that it is the new normal is a little too far. Saying that transgender is the new normal, to me, sounds like too much. What if it has people thinking that if their son is playing with dolls or daughter with footballs, then they are bound to be transgender or gay? I think we all need to let the chips fall where they may and quit the labeling all together.
I also don't believe that one person, who had to be strong, should be celebrated. I think everyone who has come out or is thinking about coming out should be celebrated. In all honesty, I am getting sick of seeing a world dictated by the Jenner/Kardashian family. If Caitlyn had been just an Olympian who decided to come out as transgender, would she have gotten her own show about it? I'm not too sure.
There is no disrespect for the Kardashian or Jenner families when I say this. I just don't think that one famous person who does something amazing deserves another reality TV show. Let's go into the lives of other transgender people and get the real scoop on what it's like. No glitz, no glam, no professional makeup...just raw, real emotion. See how people handle the bullying and scrutiny they get without all the nice things and mansions to keep them comfy. Maybe look at those who can't afford reassignment surgery and at the end, surprise them by paying for them to have it? That would be a show truly stunning and gripping — something I would watch.
