Shoutout to My Bestie on National Best Friend Day
I define my best friend as loyal, crazy, amazing, beautiful, honest and talented. She has my back, she is someone I can count on, she is nuts and so so weird but just like me, she makes me laugh and most of all, she is one of my best friends.
Believe me, it's not easy. We have come to learn and respect each other's boundaries. We fight, but we make up. We have been through a lot over the past six years, ever since we met back in the sixth grade. Although we have our bad days, I know that we will always be friends through thick and thin.
We have so many memories, so many laughs, like when she hid in my pantry on my 18th birthday with flowers when I got home, when we did the chubby bunny challenge over a year and a half ago but we can still look back on it now and laugh. I remember the first day we met. We led each other around the school yard while one was blindfolded as a trust exercise (neither of us were injured).
Through the times of bullying, she was always there for me and remained one of my most loyal friends, through the times where we had D&Ms about the boys she used to like and all the drama they used to create, I was and will always be there for her.
Right now, she has her own boyfriend, and I am so happy for her because her happiness means the world to me. As we have grown up through high school, friends have come and gone, but we have stuck together, through all the drama. We both have work and our own separate lives but have remained close.
We only get to see each other a couple of times a week, but when we do hang out, it involves a lot of junk food consisting of chocolate and Starburst snakes, and more importantly, laughing. I love her because after everything we both have been through together we still have the ability to make each other laugh to the point we end up on the floor!
We are like sisters we share secrets and look after each other like family. We have our own inside jokes and a million memories.
The reason I'm telling you this is because on June 8 not only is it the Queen's Birthday, but it is also National Best Friend Day, a day aimed at recognizing the friends that surround us and reminiscing on all the fun times shared so far!
Today, remember to share, love, laugh out loud and reminisce on all the good times shared with your own best friends. Remember to be thankful for the friends around you because they are the ones who will always have your back.
