Valeria Lukyanova is best known for her doll-like photos on the internet, but in this Skype interview with Cosmopolitan, we actually get to hear her speak. She speaks Russian, so it was translated, but it's nice to hear the voice behind the photos.
The interview was conducted via email and Skype and one very important thing she told them is that she actually hates the name Human Barbie. "I think it's even a little degrading and insulting, but I'm used to it now, since that's what my work demands and this is precisely the image most fans request," she explained. "So I have to comply with it because it's become part of my aesthetic image, but I don't like it."
Still, she uses it because that's a common way for people to search for her.
As for her haters? They just hate her cause they ain't her, according to Valeria. "I think they just really envy me because they don't have a pretty face or a pretty figure," she said. "They eat at McDonald's, and that's how they defend themselves. They laugh and say that they don't need this. If this didn't bother them inside, they wouldn't laugh. They have envy."
She also shared some of her best selfie tips. In short, it's imperative that the light hits your face just right. "If it's from the side at all the photograph is doomed to fail," she explained. Whoa! That sounds serious, we didn't even know selfies could "fail." You learn something new every day...
And just in case you're wondering, Valeria does not Photoshop her Instagram pics, but she does admit to using the standard IG filters and taking about five selfies before she decides on the perfect pic, which are pretty standard as far as selfie strategies go.
