There have been a lot of tattoo trends that have come and gone over the years, but this one might just be the most important and meaningful yet.

While most of us want our tattoos to be unique, people all over the world are actually choosing to get the same tattoo, which means the same thing and something different to each one of them. How can that be?

Because they're all getting semicolons to promote Project Semicolon, "a faith-based non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and love to those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction and self-injury." Their goal is simple: to encourage, love and inspire.

So, what does the semicolon have to do with it? It means that no matter what you're going through, or how tough things are right now, your story isn't over. "A semicolon is used when an author could've chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The author is you and the sentence is your life," the website explains.

Talk about a meaningful tattoo AND a powerful reminder of your own strength.
