Why Your Instagram Pics Are About to Get Better
Well, it FINALLY HAPPENED: Last week, Instagram rolled out higher resolution photos so that the pics look less grainy on the popular iPhone 6 Plus, which has a way bigger screen and higher pixel density than previous iPhone models. Before, Insta photos were only 640 x 640 pixels. Now, as reported by The Verge, they're at 1080 x 1080 – a huge improvement from before!
Despite the good news, tech geeks are curious why the upgrades took so long. The iPhone 6 Plus has been on the market for 10 whole months (basically ages, in the tech world), and Android phones have had high pixel density screens for years. People of Instagram, what was the big hold up?! Historically, Instagram developers have catered the app to iOS users before Android - the app was available for Apple phones for almost a year and a half before the Android version launched. We hope that changes soon!
Other good news: All those Instagram printing sites (we like Artifact Uprising and Social Print Studio) will probably now create better quality prints due to the higher resolution, and photos saved to your phone with the Instagram app may look a little sharper. Score!
