Rihanna, Queen of Everything, can sometimes find herself on the worst style lists - because duh, celebs don't always get it right. Because public opinion is such a thing right now (thanks Twitter), there are fashion and beauty decisions made by the Bajan superstar that we know fans just can't stand behind.
We loved her short pixie cut. There was literally nothing like it. We praised her high-low bob, and we reveled in her 50 Shades of Grey-toned hair. But what about her less favorable looks (i.e. her red curly fro)? Because Rihanna is well... RIHANNA, we'll tell you why her most hated hairstyles, are way better than you think.
The Hair Wrap
Rihanna left a lot of folks shocked when she debuted a hair wrap at the 2014 American Music Awards. The hair wrap, a 'do many women reserve for sleep or lounging around the house, was donned on a national stage. Most women wouldn't leave their house in a hair wrap, but Riri, boldly stood in front of the world in hers. After all the fuss over her hair, she strongly stood behind the look referring to it as her crown.
Queen Rih, we totally get it.
At the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Awards, Rihanna showed up as a vamp goddess queen with metallic evergreen lips, all-lace-everything and chunky diamond bling. The Internet had a field day when it came to her hair though, comparing her to the incomparable Crazy Eyes character from Netflix's hit series Orange Is the New Black. The truth is, she looked nothing like Crazy Eyes. In fact we think her hair completed her look perfectly, proving yet again Riri isn't afraid to take risks in the name of fashion.
Not So Ombre
In 2012, Riri went platinum blonde, and we lived for it. She would show up on red carpets looking like a golden goddess. Once and a while, photogs caught her out and about, zooming in on her less than favorable roots. I'm sure if we had lurkers trying to capture our every flaw, we'd have way more bad days than good.
In 2011, Rihanna attended the Gucci And RocNation Pre-GRAMMY Brunch and was clowned for her clown-like appearance. Now before you start agreeing, please note that Rihanna's signature red hair was iconic at the time. No, she wasn't the first to go fire engine red. Yes, she was able to inspire a generation of girls and guys to experiment with bright color. Not to mention, this was during her LOUD years, and there is nothing louder than big, over-the-top, red hair.
To Shave Or Not To Shave
Back in 2010, Rihanna showed off her shortest 'do yet, donning a half shaved head. Many wondered if she'd shave it all off à la Amber Rose. So far, that hasn't happened. To be honest, we're sure Rih could pull off any look because she's absolutely stunning with or without hair. When you're confident, bold and eternally badass, you realize that it's only hair so who really cares.
