This College Student Landed a Modeling Contract With Her Instagram
About a month ago, W Magazine kicked of its model search, asking models to submit photos and videos on the social networking site using the hashtag #WModelSearch if they wanted to be considered.
Out of thousands of models, the mag selected 20-year-old college student Alexis Primous (who is basically a natural at the whole modeling thing). "Nobody knows I entered, not even my family," Alexis told the mag after she found out she won the contest. "I'm going to start crying. I've never won anything in my entire life, and this being the one thing that I win is totally okay with me... It is amazing!"
It certainly is. Alexis – who is stunning – had not modeled professionally before winning the contest. "My family would always suggest it, but I never quite believed them," she said. "My grandmother once said, 'God gave you angles, use them!' It wasn't until my freshman year of high school that I started to hear the suggestion more and more. I had always wanted to try modeling, even through my tomboy years. Although I try not to worry too much about what others think of me, it was reassuring to hear that I should give it a try as often as I did."
Now, that Alexis has won, she'll make her editorial debut in W's September issue in an eight-page spread wearing clothing by Dior, Chloe, Miu Miu and more (we would die), according to Fashionista.com.
"Alexis was incredibly focused — I loved her energy, her excitement, and her enthusiasm in channeling each look," stylist Edward Enninful told the site. "She is very beautiful and the way she expresses it is effortless, with confidence and grace. I was impressed by her ability to convey a range of attitudes. To produce eight pictures and have each one stand out in a different way is not easy, especially for a model on her first-ever fashion shoot, so I have no doubt that Alexis will go on to be a star."
Totally inspiring. Take a peek at Alexis' full spread here.
