As anyone headed back to school this week knows, 8 p.m. on a Sunday evening isn't always easy. Here are some highlights from the 2015 Teen Choice Awards that premiered on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 8/7 c, just in case you missed it or wanted to relive the highlights!
1. The Diversity
Hosted by Ludacris, Gina Rodriquez and Josh Peck, the dynamics and diversity of this trio got our attention right away. From Gina's joyful personality and rapping skills to Josh's comedic energy boy band presentation to Ludacris's charming swagger, the trio - although different in style and personality - stayed true to themselves and played off of each other's strengths to show us a good time and win our hearts.
2. The Outfits
As always, the outfits of the TCAs are a must see! Although there isn't enough space to jot down every single breathtaking outfit, here are a few highlights:
Gina Rodriguez hosted the awards show alongside Ludacris and Josh Peck in her stunning sparkles along with many other great outfit choices like a long white dress with a classic side slit.
Zendaya wore a beautiful black pencil skirt and a unique white, off-the-shoulder top while announcing Little Mix's performance of their hit, "Black Magic."
Maia Mitchell (The Fosters) wore a unique, classy, white romper that looked stunning as she announced the award for Choice Male Athlete alongside Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars), who also wore a gorgeous bright blue and black dress.
The Pretty Little Liars cast is already well known for having amazing on-screen outfits, so it was no surprise that when Shay Mitchell,Ashley Benson,Janel Parrish, Lucy Hale, Tyler Blackburn and Vanessa Ray took they stage, they continued the PLL tradition with their amazing outfits!
3. The Reminders
Michelle Rodriguez, along with many other stars, beautifully opened and closed statements by reminding us that the viewers and voters tonight - the teens - are the future of our world.
4. The Video
Channing Tatum filmed a short and sweet video thanking the TCA and fans for his award that just melted our hearts!
5. The Magic
Little Mix, the European girl group and winners of the Choice Breakout Artist, gave us an amazing performance of their hit song "Black Magic." The performance was fully equipped with smoke, props, amazing dance moves and an outfit change with amazing fun that had the audience hooked!
6. The Vision of Uncle Jesse
No, your eyes do not deceive you, John Stamos made an appearance at the TCAs to support his new co-star, TCA host Josh Peck, who will be starring alongside John in FOX's new TV series Grandfathered. Although many fans still know John as Uncle Jesse, fans also can't deny how excited we are to see him in his new role!
7. The Empire Performance
The song "You're So Beautiful" was performed involving a diverse group of dancers dressed in white outfits and halos (in fact, it's our top photo!). The performance was both moving and exciting and has the whole crowd participating!
8. The Change
Nina Dobrev, dressed in sparkling shades of pink, gave a speech addressing the "changes" in her own life, particularly her character Elena from The Vampire Diaries while accepting her award. She reminded the audience that change can be good as she looks back as well as ahead on changes in her own life with a smile.
9. The Furious Cast
When Furious 7 won its award for Choice Movie: Action/Adventure, we were all prepared for a heartfelt speech. Vin Diesel took the mic giving an emotional speech about the Fast cast being united as a true family on and off screen. As Michelle Rodriguez gave Jordana Brewster a sisterly hug, Vin Diesel then went on to acknowledge their brother Paul Walker along with a special teen who helped them carry on; Meadow Walker, Paul's teenage daughter. Jordana and Ludacris were also able to say their remarks regarding their love for Paul as a tribute photo was displayed on the background screen. As they exited the stage, Ludacris, one of the hosts of the evening and a Furious 7 star, announced that Paul is also the winner of the Choice Drama Actor.
10. The "Fight Song"
Rachel Platten performed her hit "Fight Song," while also honoring on the screen teen girls who are also fighting for their causes and beliefs, giving us another moving performance for the night. As she performed, we got a glimpse of Fifth Harmony harmonizing their hearts out with joy, as they sang along.
11. The Finale
Flo Rida and Robin Thicke closed the show with their performance of "I Don't Like It, I Love It." The performance had us wishing there was another hour left of the show!
