If you thought infinity pools were the coolest things you'd see in the man-made aquatics world, you should prepare to have your mind blown. An insane new project is coming to London, and the result will be unlike anything you've ever seen. It's called the Sky Pool, and the name fits it perfectly - because it's a pool suspended 10 stories in the air between two buildings. It's the stuff of both dreams and nightmares (if you're afraid of heights, or, I guess, pools) and it's about to become a reality. Welcome to the future.
Arup Associates for the Ballymore Group spearheaded this project because they wanted to create something that hadn't been done before - and this definitely hasn't. The glass-bottomed pool is in its planning stages right now, but the group has released a photo of what it might look like once it's done... and it's totally bananas:
According to the Ballymore Group, the project could become a reality as early as 2018. Unfortunately, it won't exactly be open to the public: the pool will be attached to Embassy Gardens new Battersea development, which means that you either have to score a million dollar condo for yourself or have friends in "high" places in order to enjoy this crazy pool. Fingers crossed that this design makes its way over to hotels so that the entire world can experience what it's like to float in the clouds while cooling off in a pool.
