Kanye West will be getting a big honor at the MTV Video Music Awards this weekend.

In the midst of the network's many surprise announcements over the last couple of days, MTV also announced that they will be honoring the "All Day" rapper with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for his groundbreaking music videos and live performances, and his work in music, art and fashion.

In addition to this award, Kanye has only won two of the 30 Moonmen he's been nominated for so far, according to Rolling Stone. Still, he's made an indelible mark on the show with his performances, like his unforgettable 2008 "Love Lockdown" outdoors show, as well as his on-stage antics at past VMAs that made our jaws drop (i.e. that notorious Taylor Swift stage-jacking moment).

Kanye is just the latest star to take home the Video Vanguard award. Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce are among the stars who have won it in the past.

While it's not clear if Kanye will perform at the show (fingers crossed that he will surprise us), one thing is for sure: we're all in for one amazing acceptance speech.
