Lea Michele is one strong woman.

After her boyfriend of two years, Cory Monteith, passed away in July 2013, the Glee star is opening up about how she was able to find love again.

"I wanted to make sure that I was okay with me, feeling strong and feeling happy on my own," the Scream Queens star told Flare in the mag's October issue. "I didn't want anybody to fill any holes for me—that sounds sexual! I wanted to make sure that I was a whole person again and that no one was coming into my life to put me back together."

"I needed to do that on my own," she continued. "I worked very, very, very hard and I got back to that place where I was genuinely happy and strong and ready to live again and see the world and, you know, bring in more beautiful experiences. And that's when someone miraculously came into my life."

Following Cory's death, Michele began dating model and aspiring actor Matthew Paetz in April 2014, after they met on the set of her "On My Way" music video. Since then, the two have been inseparable, with the star even celebrating his birthday in May with a sweet Instagram snap of him giving her a big kiss on the cheek.

"Matthew, thank you for bringing such happiness into my life," she captioned the post. "For making me smile again and bringing such a bright joy into my every day." This gave us all types of feels.

We can't imagine what it was like for Lea to lose Cory and then build up the courage to take another shot at love, so we're happy to see that she has found it – and happiness - again.
