Why You Need to Start Wearing Lip Liner on Your Eyes

How amazing is the eye makeup on this NYFW model? We love the edginess of an asymmetrical look, hammered home with that unexpected pop of peach. But you'll never guess where the makeup artist discovered this pretty pastel hue - it's actually a lip liner.

Romy Soleimani, beauty director at large for Beauty.com, debuted this crazy cool eyeliner look at Rachel Comey's SS16 show during NYFW, and we can't get over how mysterious it is - not to mention a genius way to repurpose a lip liner that otherwise sits unloved in the bottom of your makeup bag.
Rachel Comey SS 16 "It is really fun," says Romy. "I think it's sort of an arty quirky thing to do...I think the black anchors it and makes it a little more graphic, otherwise it'll be really soft on your face. The black gives it a little toughness."

Here's how she makes it happen:

1. On one eye, use the very fine-tipped bareMinerals Gorgeous Glide Liner Brush ($22, Beauty.com) to apply wet bareMinerals Liner Shadow in Onyx ($14, Beauty.com). Wrap it around the eye into a wing, bringing it to a point in the inner corner and slightly under the bottom inner corner. Do NOT apply mascara.

2. Use bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Liner in Energized ($15, Beauty.com) to create a line above black liner.

3. On the other eye, apply the black liner, extending both inward and outward, and then use the lip liner to add a circle under the eye for a pop of abstract color. You can even add a touch of yellow to make it look like a tiny, adorable sunset.

Once you've mastered swooping the lip liner - which shouldn't take long, since it glides on so easily - Romy suggests tapping your creativity and playing with color.

"You could definitely use another pastel that's beautiful," she says. "You could do yellow, lavender, pale blue...with a little bit of navy underneath."
