Between all the crazy colors and nail art that we play around with, sometimes all you need is a down-to-earth, neutral mani. There's just something so gorgeously classic about a #flawless nail.
That's why we flipped when we discovered nail whisperer Nonie Creme, founder of Colour Prevails cosmetics, using this Colour Prevails Mannequin Hands CC Creme Basecoat ($8, Drugstore.com) backstage at the Ryan Roche SS16 NYFW show. It combines all the benefits of a primer, full-coverage polish and base coat into a chic buff hue.
"This is a full-coverage base coat, which is a really unusual product because base coats are historically just clear or strengthening or both," Nonie says. "When you think of putting on your foundation or starting your beauty routine, the first step is hide everything and layer the color on top. It's the same principal - hiding yellowness, nicks, dings, bruises, little shattered edges, all those good things. So this is just a big fat cover-up."
While it works wonders as a base coat, this polish can hold its own during everyday wear, much like CC cream does in your makeup routine. For the Ryan Roche fashion show, Nonie simply topped the base coat - which has a satin finish - with the Colour Prevails Lacquer Locker Topcoat ($8, Drugstore.com) for a high-gloss effect.
"This has been sort of a hero product for us," Nonie says. "People just love this stuff, it's so easy."
Try it out - with so many ways to wear it, it might become your next go-to bottle!
