Social Media platforms such as Instagram and YouTube have made it easy to create a perfect looking life. YouTube sensation Zoe Sugg, known as Zoella, wants people to know that she is NOT perfect. In her recent interview with Seventeen magazine, she said:
A few years ago, she made her first video about anxiety. She refers to her anxiety attacks as being like "the car in the street whose car alarm goes off from a little gust of wind, unlike the other cars in the street whose car alarms will only ever go off if somebody is smashing the window." That drives (pardon the pun) it home better than any description we have ever read.
"A lot of young people look at me and think, She has the perfect life: She's got the boyfriend, the house, the dog, the book, the successful YouTube channel," Zoe shared. "Not everything is perfect... Sometimes I have days where I don't want to leave my bed, or I'll have multiple panic attacks."
We think Zoe is so brave for taking us behind the scenes when she could so easily pretend to have a perfect life. It's like a breath of fresh air to watch someone use her online "celebrity" in such a positive way. Zoe wants to make sure her viewers dealing with anxiety and panic attacks know they are not alone and there is help. We can't wait to see her October cover of Seventeen!
