When you imagine a French manicure, you probably think of your grandma. Truth be told, French tips aren't very cutting edge. But switch up the silhouette and throw in some glitter, and it instantly becomes something bold and edgy - like nail art with minimal effort.

Manicurist Rica Romain pulled out this graphic, metallic look at the Babyghost SS16 show during New York Fashion Week - if you haven't heard of the line, know that it was founded in Manhattan in 2010 by Qiaoran Huang and Joshua Hupper, both former Diane von Furstenberg interns.

Rica started with a base coat and a coat of RCM World Premiere Nail Lacquer ($8, Red Carpet Manicure), a silver holographic glitter that we're totally in love with.

To get that triangular take on a French mani, Rica drew two diagonal lines that meet in the middle on the free edge of the nail using RCM Silver Screen Nail Lacquer ($8, Ulta).

"The designer loved the texture of the glitter in the polish, so it added a bit of glamour to the look," Rica says.

It's totally stunning in silver (and the lighter color makes it a little more forgiving if you mess up!), but we can imagine doing the tips in any bold or dark hue. We're planning on swapping in a rich, glossy black.
