I Started Playing the Nibblers App and I'm Kinda Obsessed
It's called Nibblers, and it stars a squad of cute AF fishes that venture on land to eat a bunch of fruit. They encounter "evil lizards" that they need to battle. To beat each level, you must stack three of the same fruit in a row to complete tasks (yes...it's starting to sound a lot like Candy Crush now, isn't it?). It was created by Rovio, the same people that did Angry Birds, which makes total sense: The game feels like a mashup of Angry Birds and Candy Crush with its cute, silly characters and sweet, colorful playing pieces. And it's really, really easy to get hooked.
The addictiveness is no accident. TIME spoke with Candy Crush developer Tommy Palm to find out why, and a lot of the same features carry through to the Nibblers game. Perhaps the most addicting part is that you have to stop playing while your lives replenish, so it makes you wait for it. And as the pieces fall down and create more matches, you feel like you're winning, making you feel good about yourself. You can also play with one hand, so it is an easy distraction during the day, and of course, the colors and environment tap into your inner kid. Sometimes, that's a good thing!
Here's a preview video if you want to see what it's like before you DL:
Just don't blame us when bae gets annoyed that you've been glued to your phone all day!
