When Gina Rodriguez hit the red carpet at the Emmys in a stunning, beaded Lorena Sarbu gown, our jaws dropped.

Aside from her dress, the Jane the Virgin star's hair was so on point that we almost ran to the store to buy a bottle of gel to try to achieve that sleek ponytail. Luckily, before we made it there, we got the scoop on exactly how her hairstylist created the look and helped her slay at the awards show. And we couldn't help but share. Everyone needs this look in their repertoire.

Take a peek at the six steps to get Gina's glam ponytail!
2015 Primetime Emmy Awards - ArrivalsStep 1: "I wanted to go for a very polished look on the top but yet very dramatic throughout the ponytail," Joico celebrity hairstylist Paul Norton told us. "Once I was threw washing her hair, I was ready to start styling. I began Gina's look on damp hair that had been freshly washed with Joico Color Infuse Brown Shampoo and Conditioner to richen up her raven hair."

Step 2: Next, he blew out her hair using Joico Heat Set. Once it was dry, he used his Mason Pearson brush "only at the root area because I wanted to have a wilder effect through the ends," he said.

Step 3: Once her hair was fully dry, Paul applied Joico K-PAK Protect and Shine Serum at the root area and used his Mason Pearson brush to gather her hair into a low pony tail. Then, he "confined it with an elastic band."
67th Primetime Emmy Awards - AudienceStep 4: "I wanted to be sure that the elastic band was unseen so I wrapped it with a strand of hair to conceal and cover it," he continued. Next, he put hot rollers in her hair and let it sit for 15 minutes until it cooled. "Once they were cooled, I began to remove them while gently combing the hair through my finger to work out the curls," he added.

Step 5: Next, he used Joico Hair Shake throughout the ponytail, working in sections from the bottom and all the way up to create volume. "Throughout each section I back combed with my fingers to create more separation and texture," he said.
2015 Primetime Emmy Awards - ShowStep 6: "I then had Gina tilt her head back allowing the pony tail to hang freely while I used Joico Flip Turn hair spray to ensure the volume and separation would last," he continued. "To finish I did a final spray of flip turn to make sure there were no fly aways in the confined area and great hold throughout the hair."

Love this effortless look and we are so going to try out these steps to get it!
