That's a serious message for anyone who doubts Saffron Herndon's ability to deliver an LOL-inducing line. The youngster's wisecracks are quite mature for her age, as she's incorporated topics such as online dating, the late grunge star Kurt Cobain and babysitting into her act. She quips, "I watch this show called The Flinstones. Most of you guys look like you probably watched it. But when you watched it, it was probably just called the news.'"
Apparently, the nature of the blossoming Dallas comedian's jokes prompted some critics to question whether she actually came up with them on her own.
"It makes me laugh at how stupid some adult's perspectives are on me," Saffron told BuzzFeed Life. "But I do write my own material. I do collaborate with others, like most comedians."
If that doesn't set the haters straight, Saffron's honed her standup skills in comedy clubs and festivals across the country, including recent appearances in Texas at her hometown comedy festival and the Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin.
Her father's also a standup comic, so the funny bone runs in the family. Saffron's also been influenced to take her jokes to the big stage by some majorly accomplished funny women like Parks and Recreation actress Aubrey Plaza, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Phyllis Diller.
"I hope to someday have my own television show, but first I want to start out on Saturday Night Live," the 10-year-old said.
So Saffron has major jokes and dreams, huh? With her courage, determination and unparalleled take on humor, we're sure her big break is coming soon.
