Why the Emmys' Flawless Apple Music Ad Had So Much #GirlSwag

Of course, there just had to be a pretty amazing tale behind the sheer awesomeness of the new Apple music ad that ran during the Emmys. If you dare blinked or ran to the kitchen to re-up on snacks and missed out on the action, we're referring to the commercial that starred Empire actress Taraji P. Henson, Kerry Washington and Mary J. Blige as the ultimate example of #squadgoals. If all the fabulous bobs at the Emmys stole the show, then this commercial stopped the event in its tracks.

According to Fast Company, the magic started long before we witnessed three superstars' impromptu dance sesh during the awards show. Luckily, music executive Jimmy Iovine has the deets and the star power behind the ad goes way beyond what we saw on the screen.
"Oprah came over to my house to watch the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight," Jimmy said of the media maven. "I told her what I was thinking, about three women and a conversation. Oprah says, 'Wow, you're on to something. Get Ava [DuVernay] to direct it, she will translate this for you.'"

And translate it did. What woman can't relate to chillin' with her girls, compiling boyfriend playlists, then turning up to the music at any given moment? Not only was it amazing to see Hollywood's biggest stars letting loose like totally normal chicks, but the collaboration with Apple during the biggest night for television actors gave this ultimate display of girl power the spotlight it deserves.
