Jennifer Lopez is a busy woman, but when it comes to helping others she will do whatever she can to find the time (reason number 99 why we love her).
The "Booty" crooner just became the first-ever Global Advocate for Girls and Women at the United Nations Foundation, according to InStyle, and will work to "end gender-based violence, improve maternal health care, and better the voices of the disenfranchised globally."
"Becoming a mother has made me more aware of the struggles of women and children throughout the world," she said in a statement. "While some progress has been made, there is still a lot more work that needs to be done for gender equality and universal access to medical care. I am happy to be joining the UN Foundation and eager to lend my voice and ensure that all girls and women are safe, healthy, educated, and empowered."
Marie Claire also reported that J.Lo's first assignment in the new role is to bring awareness to one of the organization's newest joint initiatives with the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA), which uses cell phones to deliver important health information to new and expecting moms.
In addition to her work with the UN, J.Lo also has her own Lopez Family Foundation, which strives to make healthcare more available for women and children. Our girl is simply inspiring.
