Jessica Alba Launches Beauty Brand Amid Legal Fire
Despite a series of lawsuits against her natural lifestyle brand The Honest Company, Jessica launched a beauty line this summer called Honest Beauty.
This summer, social media blew up with photos of sunburns and complaints about The Honest Company's sunscreen. Then, in early September, The Honest Company was under heat for two lawsuits, according to People: One for allegedly containing synthetic and unnatural materials, and the other by consumer Michael Shane, claiming that the sunscreen is ineffective due to the removal of half the zinc oxide in the original product.
Even in the face of these trials, the media has given positive reviews to the products: Fashionista writes that "the line is great." Vanity Fair claims, "All products go on lightweight and provide good coverage."
"We're proud to create a comprehensive line of skincare and makeup that celebrates diverse beauty and brings out your best," reads the Honest Beauty website. The line contains 17 skincare products like the Refreshingly Clean Powder Cleanser ($22, HonestBeauty.com) in individual packages (awesome for the gym) and 66 makeup products like oil-free Everything Tinted Moisturizer ($28, HonestBeauty.com) that are said to be free from parabens and formaldehyde carriers, in a wide range of colors for different skin tones.
Will you try Honest Beauty, even though The Honest Company has been under fire lately, or do you think Jessica is still a business-minded #GirlBoss?
