If there are two things that are just so hot right now, it's Netflix's original programming and superheroes. We already got a killer combination of the two with the Netflix superhero drama Daredevil, and now the streaming service is going at it again - this time, with an awesome heroine front and center. Netflix is streaming all episodes of Season 1 of Jessica Jones beginning Nov. 20, and a new teaser is giving us a sneak peek at what to expect from the series - and Jessica herself.
The series follows Jessica (played by the ah-mazing Krysten Ritter of Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23), a retired superhero whose short career in saving the world led to her opening up a detective agency. This particular agency specializes in solving cases for people with "unique abilities" - a.k.a. fellow superhero types. But Jessica's not your typical do-gooder: she's running from a dark past and has plenty of rough edges she refuses to smooth out. So basically she's a heck of a lot more exciting than Superman.
Jessica may be a retired superhero when the show starts, but as the teaser suggests, her powers are still mostly intact - just ask her alarm clock. Instead of hitting the snooze button, Jessica just crushes the machine with one hand. If that's what she does to a clock (that she'll eventually have to replace, let's be real) who knows what she'll do to her actual enemies?
Jessica Jones is buzzed-about series to check out on Netflix, and here's hoping that Jessica makes major strides for all of the other superheroines in this biz.
