Apparently, the producers of FOX's Grease: Live musical called up Carly Rae Jepsen and serenaded her with an impromptu rendition of "You're the One That I Want." OK, so that probably didn't happen, but it's not exactly a random scenario. According to Cosmopolitan, the "I Really Like You Singer" just nabbed the role of Frenchy in the upcoming live broadcast musical.

Set to debut in January 2016, Carly will put her spin on Didi Conn's original role in the company of a pretty impressive lineup of co-stars. Julianne Hough will play Sandy and Aaron Tveit will take on the role of Danny, while Vanessa Hudgens and Big Time Rush's Carlos PenaVega are set to star as Rizzo and Kenickie, respectively.

This role couldn't come at a better time for Carly, who recently announced her "Gimme Love" tour in support of her second album E·MO·TION. Despite having hit records and even a Broadway debut as Cinderella, the singer is still somewhat viewed as an underrated pop star. Surely, a starring role in one of the most popular musical productions will help put Carly on the radar of those who've inexplicably chosen to sidestep her infectious music and equally endearing videos. Honestly, how could anyone not enjoy the visuals for "Run Away With Me"? Not only is it heartwarming and adorable, but it gives us total vacation inspiration.

Until we can take some globe-trotting cues from Carly, we'll gladly prop our feet up, chill and throw on some of her tunes in preparation for her Grease: Musical live debut on Jan. 31, 2016.
